I remember this day very clearly. I was in 7th grade, and I remember waking up like it was just any other day. Until I heard a gasp coming from my mother's room. Then a loud "Oh my God!" I walked over to her room and saw her, jaw dropped and staring in horror at the television. Flight 11 strikes the North Tower of the World Trade Center. I remember looking up and thinking-Is this really happening?- I couldn't believe my eyes either. I just stood there with my mother staring at the screen, seeing the re-run of the plane striking the tower. Then, as history shows, South Tower of the World Trade Center being struck by Flight 175.
I remember going to school and nearly half of the student body was missing. Everyone seemed to be walking around like zombies, in shock as to what America was struck with in the early morning.
Despite the differences America was facing at the time, we stood together, United, ready to rescue those in danger. Endless hours of looking through the rubble to bring any sign of life up to the surface. United we stood, as a Nation against Terrorism. America had been struck, and so many people lost their loved ones. My heart, till this day, goes out to those families and to those Heroes who did their utmost for their country.
Today, we remember and never forget 911. Despite all the chaos and conspiracy theories after this tragedy, we send our blessings, prayers, and a moment of silence to the lives that were lost that day. As well as to the Heroes on the ground and in the skies.
